UNISPIN, The university spin-off scheme

Objectives and proceedings

The objective of the UNISPIN project is to assist regions in Europe to set up spin-off programmes, Together, the UNISPIN partners developed a three step approach:

  • Step 1: Participation in the UNISPIN workshop: the workshop is built up around the UNISPIN model and describes the various stages involved in the development of a new business, the various types of support available to new entrepreneurs, and the ways in which both the entrepreneurial activities and the spin-off programme itself can be financed.
  • Step 2: Development of a regional plan: A regional plan describes how to implement a spin-off programme in a particular region. The UNISPIN partners support the participants in developing this.
  • Step 3: Implementation of the spin-off programme: The activities at the present moment are concerned with the regional plan. None of the current participants is ready yet to implement their spin-off programme. Some participants who already had an operational spin-off programme are preparing improvements.
