Technology Transfer

(From academia to "the marketplace")

TSI-staff has been involved in the transfer of knowledge and technology from academia to the market. A special focus in this technology transfer process has been on small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s).

Content

TSI can deliver expertise on how to open ways at the university to let companies (mainly SME’s) in with their questions and problems. Several models have been created. Through this TSI-staff has developed personal experience on how to create an enterprise friendly climate on campus. As intermediaries TSI-staff members also were involved in creating instruments for the exchange of technology and know-how from university research towards (mainly R&D-driven) bigger companies.

Results

The University of Twente in which this expertise has been gained was the first University in the Netherlands in executing models in technology transfer and contract research with industry. Nowadays 35% of the total research budget from the University comes through co-operation with "the market".
